CAPITAL PROJECT FAQ

What does the renovation project include?

For a detailed overview of the project please see Locker Room Renovation page here.

What areas will be impacted from the renovation project?

The areas that will have the biggest impact will be the Men’s & Women’s Locker Rooms and the Aquatics Office.  For up-to-date detailed information on closures or temporary location changes, please see the Locker Room Impacted Area page here.

How long will the project last?

The project is slated to last approximately 34-40 weeks (roughly 8.5 months).

Why are you closing the locker rooms all at once instead of staggering the closures?

Our original plan was to stagger the closures. Unfortunately, due to the intertwined configuration of the building’s plumbing, we must renovate both locker rooms at the same time.

How long will the locker rooms be unavailable?

We expect the locker room closure to last about 30-34 weeks (roughly 7.5 months).

Where can I change clothes?

  • We have temporary private changing stations - three on the pool deck and five in the Conference Room which is located at the end of the hallway by the coffee bar in the Upper Lobby.
  • Please note these stations are only for changing clothes. Showers are unavailable.

Will the pool close during the project?

Our goal is to minimize as many disruptions as possible. Right now, there are no plans for a pool closure. We do know there will be times throughout the project where the pool will have to be closed. The pool is included in the scope of work in order to address some structure issues in the corners of the pool deck. We will keep everyone updated as those closures come up.

What are Family Locker Rooms?

Family locker rooms will be accessible for all needs, especially those of families and members with diverse abilities who may require the assistance of a parent or caregiver.

Why will we not be able to rent lockers anymore?

In order to provide the best experience for all, we decided it was essential to make lockers available for everyone to use while they are in the facility. Rented lockers only serves a portion of our membership. Additionally, this will allow us to add more day use lockers strategically throughout the facility.

Who is paying for the cost of the project?

Will membership dues go up?

The board has no plans to increase membership dues at this time. The YMCA board hopes to raise all of the funds for the project. You can learn more about making a gift to this project here.
