REVITALIZING OUR Y: COMPLETE GUIDE TO OUR FACILITY RENOVATION
Exciting transformations are underway at our Y! We are excited to announce a renovation project aimed at revitalizing our locker room facilities. This endeavor is more than just a facelift; it’s a commitment to enhancing the member experience and meeting the evolving needs of our community.
The project will be completed in several phases, each designed to minimize disruption while maximizing improvements. Phase 1:
The first phase of the project will include the following:
- NEW Spin Studio
- NEW Child Watch
- Men’s & Women’s Locker Rooms
- Demo work
- Reconfiguration of the layout
- Updated plumbing
- Updated electrical
- Individual showers (Four total with two being ADA accessible)
- Two dry changing stalls
- New fixtures
- New day-use lockers
- Aquatics Office
- Office will be permanently relocated
- Demo work
- Two NEW Family ADA Accessible Locker Rooms
- ADA accessible shower
- ADA accessible toilet
- Sink
- Hooks for hanging items
- NEW day locker bay in the common area
- Two ADA lifts
- Upper lobby lift – ADA accessibility from upper lobby to lower lobby
- Lower lobby/pool lift – ADA accessibility from lower lobby to pool deck

- NEW HVAC/dehumidifier combo unit for Locker Rooms
Phase 2:
- Lower lobby restrooms remodel
- Convert current restrooms into four family restrooms
- One restroom will be ADA accessible
- Updated lower lobby tile
Phase 3:
- NEW electrical main panels
- Updated signage
The Athens-McMinn Family YMCA locker rooms will be closing on September 30th for renovation. The locker rooms are expected to open in late Spring upon completion. Other areas of the facility will be affected intermittently throughout the duration of the project.
